In the Oncourse Original Test and Survey tool, when I'm using the Question Editor to develop content for a test or survey, what fields can I safely ignore?

Note: The Original Test and Survey tool is slated to be completely replaced by Tests & Surveys as of fall 2012; see About the retirement of Original Test and Survey.

Some of the fields in the Original Test and Survey tool's Question Editor are designed to help identify and categorize your question if you intend to include it in a large question bank. Those fields are:

  • Comments
  • Skill
  • Category
  • Topic

The Original Test and Survey tool is not currently able to participate in common question banks. However, you can use these fields for your own reference. You can also use the "Comments" field to display automatic feedback to students after they submit answers.
