In Outlook, how do I use the "Bcc:" field?
In Outlook, the "Bcc:" (blind carbon copy) field allows you to address a message to multiple individuals or a distribution list without disclosing the recipients' addresses. The steps for using the "Bcc:" field vary slightly depending upon your version of Outlook and whether you're using Word as the email editor.
Outlook 2010 and 2007 provide only Word as the email editor. The default setting for a new installation of Outlook 2003 is to use Word as the email editor. However, you can change this using the directions in In Microsoft Outlook 2003 and earlier for Windows, how do I turn Wordmail on or off?
In Outlook 2010, to use the "Bcc:" field, open a new message. From the
Options tab, in the "Show Fields" section, click
Bcc. The "Bcc:" field will now appear.
In Outlook 2007, to use the "Bcc:" field, open a new message. From the
Options Ribbon, select Show Bcc. The "Bcc:" field
will now appear.
If you are using Word as your email editor in Outlook 2003 to use the
"Bcc:" field, open a new message. To the right of the
Options... button, click the downward pointing arrow and
select Bcc. The "Bcc:" field will now appear.
In Outlook 2003 without Word as the email editor, to use the
"Bcc:" field, open a new message. From the View menu, select
Bcc Field. The "Bcc:" field should now appear.
