ARCHIVED: At IU, how do I access Falcon?

Note: Falcon is being replaced with a service desk system from Numara Software. For details, see the UITS Service desk implementation project page.

Falcon is available to Indiana University employees who provide IT support, including all UITS staff at the IUPUI and IU Bloomington campuses, and all regional campus IT and appropriate school or departmental personnel.

If you need to use Falcon, your manager or supervisor must first complete and submit the Request New Operator Account form. After your account is created, you can download and install a Falcon client in order to access the system.

Note: For compatibility with the currently installed version of the Falcon software, you must use one of the clients listed below. If you're using an older version, uninstall it and install the new version.

  1. Go to the UITS Falcon page at: https://falcon.iu.edu/
  2. Under "Client Downloads", click the version for your computer's operating system. If you haven't already, you will need to log in with your IU Network ID username and passphrase.

    • For Windows computers, select Windows 5.1 GUI client installer.
    • For Mac OS X, select Macintosh 5.1 client.
      • An image should mount (Falcon for Mac OS X) which contains the Falcon app.
      • If a Falcon app is in /Macintosh HD/Applications (old install), throw it away.
      • Copy the new Falcon app from the mounted image into the Applications folder.
      • Drag the mounted image and the image file to the trash to unmount/cleanup.

    • For Linux computers, select 5.0 Java client for Linux.
    • For Unix computers, select 5.0 Java client for Unix.
