At IU, how do I download and install EndNote X5?

Note: For information on system and hardware requirements and word processor compatibility, see product information at the EndNote web site.

At Indiana University, to download and install EndNote X5:

  1. Download EndNote X5 from IUware: Windows | Mac OS X

  2. Run the program to install it; the default installation folder is Program Files/EndNoteX5.

  3. Choose the custom installation and check all items; this ensures you will have access to the full suite of connection files, filters, and styles.

    Note: The quick installation will not install all connection files, filters and styles. It allows the program to start more quickly, but it is probably best to be patient as it loads and have all the files available, rather than fetching those files when you need them.

  4. Once the installation has completed, visit EndNote Updates. Look under "EndNote X5" to see if there is an update for your operating system. If there is, follow the instructions to install it.

The update will take some time to install; once it is finished, EndNote will be updated to version X5.0.1.
