Choosing a compiler

While the GNU compiler available on IU's research systems is designed for portability, it does not necessarily optimize your code for a specific vendor system. Vendor-supplied or third-party compilers typically offer options for optimization and may offer superior math accuracy in addition to improved performance. Third-party compilers may also be particularly well suited for porting codes from another vendor platform.
