From off campus, why am I unable to access some IU services?
Due to security issues, UITS has temporarily blocked access from outside the Indiana University network to some IU services. To access the following services, you must be connected on campus or via an IU VPN connection or the modem pool:
- IU Exchange email accounts (See At IU, using an outside ISP, why can't I connect to my Exchange account with Outlook or BlackBerry Desktop Manager?)
Note: Any mail sent to
email@example.com) from a system outside IU will be rejected, generating a bounce message to the sending system. Be sure your mail is sent to
- Some IU Library resources (See Using the databases available through the IUB Libraries, why can't I access some of the resources?)
- Webserve (See Can I access Webserve from outside the Indiana University network?)
- The whois service and IU's ph server
Note: For VPN when connecting from off campus, use the recommended SSL VPN if your campus supports it. The IPsec VPN at IUB and IUPUI will eventually be retired.
