At IU, how do I purchase BlackBerry handheld devices and wireless service?

Purchasing a BlackBerry involves selecting a handheld device as well as a wireless service plan. For details, see Corporate cellular device service at IU.

Indiana University faculty and staff are eligible for discounts with some cellular carriers:

  • For AT&T, see the AT&T Wireless agreement.

  • Other carriers also often offer discounts to IU employees; check with your local vendor, or see the following resources:

Many different models of BlackBerry devices are available, and several companies provide wireless network service for them; see New BlackBerry Smartphones.

Note: The coverage areas for BlackBerry devices depend primarily on the infrastructure of the wireless network provider. Coverage can also be affected by other variables such as the model of the device and whether it is being used indoors or outdoors. Due to these variables, UITS cannot guarantee coverage in any given area on any given device.
