ARCHIVED: At IUB and IUPUI, how do I answer a call on my office telephone?
On this page:
All telephone models
To answer a call with the speakerphone (if available)
- Listen for ringing.
- Do not lift the handset. Press your telephone's Speakerphone or Handsfree
button.
- Begin speaking into the microphone.
- To end the call, press your telephone's Speakerphone or Handsfree button again, or raise and immediately lower the handset.
Caller ID telephones
Calling Line Identification (Caller ID) information is sent from the telephone switch to your telephone between the first and second ring. Therefore, if you want to see the telephone number of the incoming call on the display and the Caller's List, you must wait until the information appears on the display before answering the telephone. If you have a two-line telephone and lift the handset or press Handsfree/Mute when both lines are ringing, the line that was ringing first is automatically answered. To change which line is answered first, see At IUB, on my two-line Caller ID telephone, how can I control which line I answer?
Meridian Business Set M5312 and M5316

- Press the button beside the flashing diamond.
To answer a non-PDN number on your set with the Handsfree button

diamond.
