At IUS, what types of computing labs are available and where are they located?

At Indiana University Southeast, following are the types of labs and their locations:

  • Open lab: These labs are for all IUS students. An open lab is never restricted from use, except under extreme circumstances. Following is a list of locations for open labs:

    • CV 112

    • UC Hall
    • HH 123
    • IF 264
    • IF 374
    • PS 100
    • PS 200
    • IB 200
    • HH 009
    • Lobby clusters located in HH and KV

  • Special lab: A special lab is similar to an open lab, but has special software or hardware. A special lab is never restricted unless an unusual need arises. Following is a list of special lab locations:

    • LF 153
    • IF 165

  • Restricted open lab: A restricted open lab is a lab with special software or hardware. Permission to use the equipment will not be withheld. Following is a list of restricted open lab locations:

    • KV 208
    • IF 101
    • Listening Lab

  • Open classroom: An open classroom is a room scheduled by campus activities. This sort of room will be open when class is not in session. Following is a list of open classroom locations:

    • CV 108
    • KV 215

  • Semi-proprietary classroom: This is a classroom scheduled by a department, but not funded by the technology fee. This sort of classroom will be open when class is not in session. Following is a list of semi-proprietary classroom locations:

    • HH 113
    • HH 205

    • IF 111
    • IF 170
    • IF 272
    • IF 240
    • IF 301
    • IF 334
    • IF 339

  • Proprietary lab: A proprietary lab is solely funded by a department. SCS may or may not take care of the computers, depending on the desire of the departments. These labs are open at the discretion of the department. Following is the proprietary lab location:
