In Outlook 2011 or Entourage for Mac OS X, how do I access the ADS Global Address List?

To improve results when searching the Global Address List (GAL), enter the last name followed by a comma, and then the first name. You can also search using an email username. In each application, there are several ways to search the GAL.

Outlook 2011

If you are using Outlook 2011 to access your Exchange account, you already have access to the GAL. For configuration details, see At IU, in Mac OS X, how do I configure Outlook 2011 to access my Exchange account? To search the GAL, choose one of the following options:

  • After selecting the Contacts icon, you can enter your search term in the "Find a Contact" search field. Alternatively, click the Contact Search icon to bring up a separate search window.
  • While composing a message, you can initiate a search by typing in the "To:" or "Cc:" field.
  • At the end of the "To:" field, you can click on the address book icon and bring up the Contact Search window.

Entourage

If you are using Entourage 2008, Web Services Edition to access your Exchange account, you already have access to the Global Address List (GAL). For configuration details, see At IU, in Mac OS X, how do I configure Entourage 2008 to access my Exchange account?

You may search the GAL for names and email addresses from the Entourage Address Book. To search while you are composing a message, select either the "To:" or "Cc:" field, enter part of a name, and click Check Names.
