How does an IU department acquire Oracle software?
On this page:
Eligibility
Indiana University departments can take advantage of the IU-Oracle license agreement as long as the department has enough hardware and support resources to maintain an Oracle database, and the Oracle database will not be used for external commerce, i.e., the Oracle database will not be part of a system to generate income from clients external to IU. The license agreement covers use that directly relates to IU's missions of teaching, research, and service, but explicitly excludes non-academic uses of the product in the medical sciences, such as use of the product for the business side of clinical practices. UITS groups order their software directly from the UITS Database Administration (DBA) team. Visit the DBA team's Request Forms page to make an Oracle software request.
All other non-UITS requests are made through the Enterprise Decision Support Services (EDSS) group, which maintains an online form.
Platform and software matrix
Note: All products are available for 10g and 11g. IU's license agreement with Oracle now includes the data partition option. The license agreement does not cover the grid computing option known as RAC.
