How do I change the font used by my web browser?
To change the font used by your web browser for web pages that do not have a specified text font, use the appropriate instructions below. (The instructions may also work for browser versions other than the ones specified.)

Windows
Internet Explorer 7 and higher
- From the
Toolsmenu, selectInternet Options....If the menu bar is hidden, press
Altto make it visible. - Under the
Generaltab, clickFonts....
- In the window that opens, you may choose the web page font or the plain text font (used where fixed-width fonts are specified). In the drop-down box next to "Language script:", you can change the character set used for the particular font.
Firefox for Windows
- From the
Toolsmenu, selectOptions....If the menu bar is hidden, press
Altto make it visible. - At the top of the window that appears, click
Content.
- Under "Fonts & Colors", select the default font and size from
the drop-down menus. For more options, click
Advanced....
Chrome
- In the upper right, click the
Toolsicon (), and then select
Options.
- From the
Under the Hoodtab, scroll down to the "Web Content" area, and then clickChange font and language settings.
- Change font and language settings as desired, click
OK, and then clickClose.
Mac OS X
Safari
- From the
Safarimenu, selectPreferences....
- Click
Appearance. To change the font for "Standard font:" or "Fixed-width font:", click the appropriateSelect...button. To change the default encoding, next to "Default Encoding:", use the drop-down menu.
Firefox for Macintosh
- From the
Firefoxmenu, selectPreferences....
- At the top of the window that opens, click
Content.
- Under "Fonts & Colors", select the default font and size from
the pull-down menus. For more options, click
Advanced....
