In Windows XP, how do I create Automated System Recovery disks?
Before you begin to make a Windows XP Automated System Recovery disk, make sure that you have one or more blank floppy disks available. Since floppy disks can fail unexpectedly, you should probably make more than one recovery disk. The process is as follows:
- From the
Startmenu, selectProgramsorAll Programs, thenAccessories, thenSystem Tools, and finallyBackup.
- On the welcome screen, click
Advanced Mode.
- On the next screen, click the button next to
Automated System Recovery Wizard.
- Click
Next, and then make sure you have a blank floppy disk in the floppy drive. Confirm that the path shown under "Backup media:" or "file name:" points to the blank floppy disk. If not, click theBrowse...button and navigate to the blank floppy, and then clickOK.
- Click
Next, and then clickFinish.
Note: Recovery disks contain security-sensitive information, so be sure to keep them in a safe location.
