In IU campus housing, why do I have to re-register my computer in the fall?
At the end of every summer, before classes begin for fall, UITS expires all IP addresses registered to computers in Indiana University Bloomington and IUPUI campus housing. This policy is intended to enhance the security and integrity of the IU computing network, and applies to computers registered to students, faculty, staff, and guests.
All campus housing residents must run the Get Connected software and successfully complete the registration process.
Note: You can use the Get Connected web site to register your Windows Vista, Windows XP, or Mac OS X (10.3 and later) computer to use the Indiana University network in campus housing. Computers running Windows 2000 or Linux, as well as game consoles, must be manually registered. For help, contact the UITS Support Center at IU Bloomington by calling 812-855-6789 or at IUPUI by calling 317-274-4357. You cannot register earlier versions of Windows on the IU network in campus housing.
If you are running Windows 95, 98, or Me, you must upgrade to Windows XP or Vista to access the IU network. For more information, see For Windows computers on the IU network, why does UITS recommend Windows 2000, XP Professional, or Vista Enterprise or Ultimate?
