At IU, in KMail, how do I read my Cyrus mail using IMAP?
To configure KMail to read your Cyrus mail using IMAP at Indiana University, follow these instructions:
- From the
Settingsmenu, selectConfigure KMail....
- From the configuration window, click
Identities. Select theDefaultidentity, and then clickModify. If you do not have a default identity entry, clickNewto create one.
- In the window that appears, type your name and email address,
and then click
OK.
- In the column on the left side of the window, click
Accounts. Click the tab labeledSending, and then clickAdd...to add an outgoing mail server. In theAdd Transportwindow, selectSMTP, and then clickOK.
- In the window that appears, enter
mail-relay.iu.edufor bothNameandHost, and then change the port from25to465. Check the box next toServer requires authentication, and forLogin, enter your IU Network ID.
- From the top of the window, click the
Securitytab. Under "Encryption and Plan for Authentication Method", selectSSL, and then clickOK.
- From the top of the window, click the
Receivingtab, and then clickAddto add a new incoming mail server.
- Next to "Account Type", select
IMAP. For bothNameandHost, enterimap.iu.edu. ForLogin, enter your IU Network ID, and then change the port from143to993.
- Click the
Securitytab. Under "Encryption", selectUse SSL for Secure mail download. Under "Authentication Method", selectClear text.
- Click
OK, and then clickOKagain to return to the main KMail window. You should now be able to send and receive email from KMail.
