At IU, why can't I access some multi-player online games from campus or Greek housing?
UITS has blocked communications on a number of network service ports on which programs seeking unauthorized access to the Indiana University network try to operate. This was done in order to protect the university from critical security vulnerabilities. These controls minimize threats of interruption to IU network services from these dangerous programs; unfortunately, the controls also block many multi-player online games that use these network service ports.
Because personal activities must always take second priority when there is a risk to university property, and because of the high risk to the university network, no individual exceptions will be made to this block.
