ARCHIVED: How does Oncourse CL differ from original Oncourse?

Although Oncourse CL includes the basic features of original Oncourse, the visual interface is somewhat different, as are certain steps to accomplishing certain tasks. Key differences include the following:

  • Worksites can exist independently of semesters. In addition to course sites tied to particular classes, project sites can be created for individual projects and committees, and ePortfolio sites can be created for electronic portfolios.

  • A link to another web site can be integrated into the list of tools by using the Web Content tool.

  • The Resources tool replaces and extends the Filemanager's storage function. Files and folders can be dragged to Resources through a network connection.

  • The My Workspace site is a more powerful version of My Profile, which allows you to set custom preferences for your profiles and worksites.

  • The Messages and Chat Room tools, along with new mail notification features, are displayed on the menubar rather than under the In Touch tab.

  • The Messages tool replaces the Course Mail capabilities of original Oncourse.

  • Announcements, notifications, and Email Archive distribution list messages are sent to participants' preferred email programs, such as Outlook or IU Webmail, without logging into Oncourse CL.

  • Post'Em capabilities for sharing grades and feedback from an Excel file are available within Oncourse CL.

  • A list of site participants with ID photos viewable by instructors and site owners is available through the Roster tool.
This is document apqa in domains all and oncoursecl.
