ARCHIVED: At IU, what is the timeline for implementing the newest version of Oncourse?
Following is the timeline for implementing Oncourse CL at Indiana University:
-
January 2005: UITS and the Teaching
& Learning Centers scheduled multiple town meetings, infoshares,
and training sessions to support faculty and their support providers
moving from the original Oncourse to the new Oncourse CL for their fall
2005 or spring 2006 classes.
-
Spring 2005: The new Oncourse was available
within the original Oncourse upon request to faculty and support
providers for testing and practice.
-
June 2005: In June 2005, courses for fall 2005
were loaded into Oncourse CL and became available for faculty
preparation.
-
Fall 2005-summer 2007: Both versions of Oncourse
were available to give instructors ample time to migrate their course
content (all original Oncourse content was importable into the new
Oncourse CL). Courses were loaded by default into Oncourse CL. Faculty
could opt out of Oncourse CL to teach in original Oncourse instead.
-
Spring 2006: Pursuant to IU's plan to retire CFS
online storage (May 15, 2006) and Filemanager in original Oncourse
(June 1, 2006), UITS created a tool to help students, faculty, and
staff migrate their files from those systems to the Resource tool in
Oncourse CL.
-
June 2006: UITS retired Filemanager in original
Oncourse.
- Fall 2007: UITS retired original Oncourse at the beginning of fall 2007. Course data created for original Oncourse will be preserved for only one year after the retirement.
