This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.

IU's site license with ERDAS provides two complimentary extensions designed for Esri's ArcGIS Desktop software:

  • Image Analysis for ArcGIS allows you to prepare imagery for GIS. It includes tools for spatial, radiometric, and spectral enhancement, as well as supervised and unsupervised classification.
  • Stereo Analyst for ArcGIS adds image viewing and feature collection capabilities to ArcMap. You can use this extension to collect 3D geographic information for creating and maintaining highly accurate GIS data stored in a geodatabase.

To use these extensions, you must purchase both an ERDAS IMAGINE license and an ArcGIS license. If your organization already has a current ERDAS IMAGINE license, you may download the above extensions from IUware. If you do not already have an ERDAS IMAGINE license, see ARCHIVED: At IU, how do I purchase ERDAS IMAGINE?

For an additional fee, ERDAS offers the following extensions for ArcGIS Desktop:

  • ERDAS Terrain Editor for ArcGIS: An optional extension to Stereo Analyst for ArcGIS, ERDAS Terrain Editor for ArcGIS enables you to update a Geodatabase Terrain file.
  • FeatureAssist for ArcGIS: An add-on to Stereo Analyst for ArcGIS for the collection of roof structures in the Esri Multipatch format.
  • Feature Analyst for ArcGIS: Provides geospatial professionals with an automated feature extraction toolset for collecting 2D and 3D features from imagery and scanned maps.
  • LIDAR Analyst for ArcGIS: Automates the extraction of 3D terrain surfaces, buildings, trees, and forest areas, with outstanding accuracy for both leaf-off and leaf-on conditions.
