HTML ImageMapper, developed by the Germany-based company Alta4 Geoinformatik AG, is an extension for ArcGIS Desktop that can transform your maps and data into interactive maps for the Internet. The wizard-based extension creates HTML image maps from your ArcGIS maps. The maps can not only be created for web applications but also be exported to Google Earth. You can choose between themes and views when displaying your web maps and can create your own individual layout by using the style sheets. Others do not need a special plug-in to view your maps, and you will not need to install server software to publish to the web.

UITS funds and distributes Indiana University's educational use ImageMapper site license with Alta4, provided at no cost to IU students, faculty, and staff on all campuses. You can download the HTML ImageMapper extension for ArcGIS from IUware. For an example of a map created with ImageMapper, see the single file download interface on the Indiana Spatial Data Portal.

The license file needed to activate this extension resides in the document files you will download from IUware. After this extension is installed, the license file ( indiana.lic ) will reside on your computer at C:\IUware Online\HTML ImageMapper NG AJAX for ArcGIS 9.x.

Note: ImageMapper is not yet compatible with ArcGIS 10.
