At IU, how many network devices can I register?
If you live on campus, you may register up to five network-enabled devices in your campus residence.
If you are not a campus resident and are not registering devices for use in campus housing, you may register up to 10 devices.
You may register any combination of devices you wish; for example, in campus housing you could register a smartphone (e.g., an iPhone or Android device), three computers connected with Ethernet cables, and an Xbox 360. Or you may have a smartphone and a Wi-Fi MP3 player (such as a Blackberry and an iPod Touch), a pair of game consoles, and a laptop. Any other combination of computers and network-capable devices up to your limit can be self-registered.
For information about registering network devices at IU, see:
- At IUB, IUPUI, and IUN, how do I register my computer or other networked device?
- At IU, how do I register my wireless Pocket PC, Windows Mobile, or Palm device with DHCP?

If you need to exceed the number of registered devices, contact your campus Support Center for assistance. If you are a staff member connecting a device within your department, you can also contact the local IT Professional who supports your area.
Note: For registered IT Professionals (i.e., LSPs), there is no limit on the number of registrations.
