At IU, how can I access ESRI's Virtual Campus courses?

Indiana University's ESRI Higher Education Site License includes a subscription to ESRI's Virtual Campus Self-Paced Training for IU students, faculty, and staff on all IU campuses; see the course catalog for a list of self-study Virtual Campus courses included in the license.

The subscription includes free self-study Virtual Campus courses authored exclusively by ESRI, as well as a 40% discount on instructor-led on-site or online courses. If you are new to ArcGIS, UITS suggests that you take advantage of the ESRI Learning Pathway Fundamentals of ArcGIS Desktop. A learning pathway defines a set of ESRI training courses that focus on a particular aspect of GIS.

The virtual campus courses are free, but require a code to unlock them. You can request up to five courses at a time by emailing one of the following emails, using "Virtual Campus course" as your subject header:

UITS GIS Support Specialists Primary representatives for GIS Support on all IU campuses
Tom Evans IUB Geography
Hamid Ekbia IUB School of Library and Information Science
Cecile Morris IUN Libraries and IUSB
Jeffrey Wilson IUPUI Department of Geography
Kevin Mickey IUPUI POLIS Center
Clint Franklin IUS School of Natural Resources

Procedure to enroll and access your courses

The first time you enter the ESRI Virtual Campus, you will need to create an ESRI Global Account. If you already have an account, you may log in at the ESRI Teaching and Education site. Once you receive the course activation code, you have one year to complete the course.

For information on how to register for instructor-led courses, email the GIS Support Specialists.
