On IU's research systems, how do I compile my C or Fortran programs using GNU compilers?

On Indiana University's research systems (Big Red, Quarry, the Research Database Complex [RDC]), you can compile programs written in C or Fortran using the GNU compilers.

Fortran 77 programs

To compile the Fortran 77 program simple.f, you would use the following command:

f77 -o simple simple.f

Use f90 instead of f77 to compile F90 programs.

C programs

To compile the C program simple.c, you would use the following command:

gcc -o simple simple.c
