Additional spatial data resources

Local resources

National resources

  • ESRI maps and data
Datasets for the world, Europe, Canada, Mexico, and the US. All vector data is provided in SDC format and includes such layers as political boundaries, cities, rivers, and roads. Also available in this dataset are demographic data, StreetMap USA, elevation data, and world imagery.

  • The Geography Network
The Geography Network is managed and maintained by ESRI. You can access many types of geographic content, including dynamic maps, downloadable data, and advanced web services.

  • USDA Geospatial Data Gateway
The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) provides one-stop shopping for US natural resources or environmental data including climate, temperature, precipitation, soil surveys, topographic maps, aerial photos, and more. To quickly download US soil survey data one county at a time, see the NRCS Soils Data Mart.

  • US Census Bureau
Cartographic boundary files from the Census Bureau's TIGER geographic database; also available by interactive download from ESRI

  • US Fish and Wildlife Service
GIS data, satellite and aerial imagery, biological data, and interactive mapping links

  • USGS National Water Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Data Warehouse
NAWQA's Data Warehouse integrates data (more than 11 million records) on water quality, ecology, and hydrology across the nation, providing one of the largest nationally consistent online collections of water-quality data and associated information available.

  • GIS Data Depot
Provides many types of data such as DEM, DOQQ, FEMA, NWI, DLG, DRG, and TIGER datasets. Most require a small fee.

  • GIS Climate Change Scenarios
Datasets for analysis and mapping of global climate change from the National Center for Atmospheric Research

  • Lat/Long to Elevation
