If you try to access an item in Resources and get an error message stating the requested resource was not found, the cause could be one of the following:

  • If you're trying to access the item from a link in an email message, you may have passed an incomplete URL to your browser. Many email clients wrap long URLs when they appear in messages; consequently, you cannot click them to open up the links to which they're pointing. To fix this problem, copy the URL from the email message, and paste it into your browser's address bar, making sure you've included the entire URL.
  • Files with names that include a hyphen/dash (-), an underscore (_), or a space can cause problems. Such files will open and display properly in Resources, but you may not be able to redirect your syllabus to the file. Instead, you can get the following error:
"The requested resource: URL is not currently available." (URL will be replaced with the URL to your file in Resources.)

If this occurs, remove the hyphen, underscore, or space from the filename in Resources, and then try the redirect again. For more, see ARCHIVED: Resources. If you continue to have difficulty, contact your campus Support Center.

  • File names that contain unsupported characters may appear to upload correctly, but may not be accessible after they have been uploaded. If one of your filenames contains an unsupported character, you will need to rename the file and then upload it to Resources again. For more, see ARCHIVED: Unsupported characters.
  • The item may have been deleted by another participant. If you're trying to access the item from a link in an email message, that link may be pointing to an item that's no longer in Resources. If this is the case, contact your instructor or site leader, or someone else who might have access to another copy of the item.
  • The item may have been quarantined as a possible source of a virus or other malicious code. If you believe this might be the case, contact your campus Support Center with the name of the site, the name of the item (i.e., filename), and its location.
  • There might be a system outage or problem preventing you from accessing the item; see IT Notices.

For help, contact your campus Support Center.
