In Oncourse, how do I show, hide, and order sites?
View feature demonstrations relevant to this topic.
Note: When you log in, your course, project, and
portfolio sites are displayed as tabs across the top of the screen. To
enter a site, click its tab. If you belong to more sites than can be
displayed as tabs, those sites will be accessible from the
- more - drop-down list.
You can choose to hide sites (e.g., course sites from previous semesters), or reorder them (i.e., choose which sites to display in tabs), using the Preferences tool in My Workspace.
- From your My Workspace menubar, click
Preferences.
- Click
Customize Tabs.
- Under "Customize Tabs", your currently visible sites are listed in
the "My Active Sites" box on the left. On the right, the "My Hidden
Sites" box lists the sites that do not appear in your
- more -tab. Use the right and left arrow buttons (<and>) to move sites from one box to the other. Click the double arrow buttons (<<and>>) to move all sites from one box to the other.Note: If you hide the tab for a site, you can still access the site from Worksite Setup in My Workspace.
- To determine the order in which tabs are displayed, click a site
in "My Active Sites", and then use the up and down arrows to change
the order.
Note: Your
My Workspacetab will always appear to the left of your other sites. - You can change the number of tabs you see by typing the desired
number in the box next to "Tabs displayed:".
- When you're finished, click
Update Preferences.
Hint: If you have a large number of active sites, it may be quicker to move certain sites to the top of your list, where they will be displayed as tabs, using the following method rather than the up and down arrows:
- On the Customize Tabs page, click
>>to move all of your active sites to the "My Hidden Sites" box.
- Select the courses you want to appear as tabs. (To select more
than one course, hold down
Ctrlin Windows orCommandon a Mac while clicking.)
- Click
<to move the selected courses back to the "My Active Sites" box.
- If desired, click
<<to move all the rest of your sites back to the "My Active Sites" box, where they will appear after the sites you have just moved. You can also repeat steps 2 and 3 to move back only some of your sites.
- When you're finished, click
Update Preferences.
