How do I list my course with CPSOnline?

As an instructor using eInstruction Corporation's Classroom Performance System rf (CPSrf) for the first time, you will receive a setup code along with the CPS software when you request a startup kit from eInstruction. (Once you have a setup code, you can use it forever.) You will also receive a demo response pad and enrollment code in your startup kit. To register and enroll the pad, you must first list your course with CPSOnline.

To create a class from within the CPS software, do the following:

Note: The CPS software connects to CPSOnline, so you will need to be connected to the Internet when you create a class.

  1. In the CPS software, select the Classes tab.

  2. Click New.

  3. Follow the instructions in the Class Creation Wizard.

Note: You will be asked to create a username and password. Do not use your Indiana University Network ID passphrase when creating a class in CPS.

Information entered into "Class Info" will be available to students. The dates you set in "Class Info" are important. The "Start Date" is the first date students will be able to register their response pads for the course, and the "End Date" is the last date students will be able to change their information or view anything posted to CPSOnline. If you provide an email address and select Notification, an email bulletin will be sent when students make changes to their information in CPSOnline. It is possible to opt out of notification or to set the date when notifications will begin. To make sure the class database is always updated, eInstruction recommends that you choose the Sync option.

A class key is automatically generated when you create a class. It will appear on the Class Administration tab of your account. You will need to give the class key information to students in order for them to enroll.

You can download the roster of registered students from CPSOnline via the CPS software. If the Sync option is selected, this is done automatically when an Internet connection is available. It is also possible, but not necessary, for you to upload scores from classroom activities into CPSOnline for students to view.

To access CPSOnline, on the following page, select your school, and then log in using the username and password you created:

http://www.cpsonlinehe.einstruction.com/

Once you have listed your course with CPSOnline, you can register the response pad and use the demo enrollment code to enroll it in your class for testing. For instructions on registering and enrolling the pad, see At IU, how do I purchase, register, and enroll an eInstruction CPSrf response pad? Follow the instructions for students. You can use an alias for your account information, but use your correct email address to receive confirmation email from eInstruction.
