To install and configure OpenAFS on your Mac OS X computer for use with the Research File System (RFS) at Indiana University:

Installing OpenAFS

  1. Download the .dmg file here.

  2. Open the .dmg file, and then open OpenAFS.pkg.

  3. Click through the defaults until the Installer displays the "Client Cell Configuration" box. Enter iu.edu for the local cell.

  4. Click Continue, and then click Install to install OpenAFS.

  1. Once the OpenAFS installer has finished, from the Apple menu, select System Preferences.

  4. Click the CellServDB Editor tab. Select the first row with the name grand.central.org, and then scroll to the bottom of the table; while holding the Shift key, select the last row so that all rows are selected. 5. Click the  +  (plus sign) to add a new cell. In the "Afs Cell" field, type iu.edu, and for the comment field, type Indiana University Cell.

  6. Click Add to add authentication server IP numbers. In the resulting line, edit the field with the IP number, and then the server name. Repeat this until the pane reads as follows:
