ARCHIVED: At IU, how do I purchase, register, and enroll an eInstruction CPSrf response pad?
At Indiana University, you can purchase an eInstruction CPSrf response pad at your campus bookstore. Your bookstore can also provide pricing information.
Note: You cannot share a response pad with another student during the same semester. For more information, see ARCHIVED: Can I share, loan, or resell my CPSrf response pad?
Once you have purchased your response pad, you will also need to register your device and enroll it in a class. If you do not already have an enrollment (activation) code, you can purchase one online. To register your device and enroll in a class:
- Visit the CPSOnline
Student Entry page.
- Select your university from the list of schools, and then click
Choose Site.
- If this is your first time using CPSOnline, you will have to
create your account.
If you already have an account, log in with your CPSOnline username and password, and then skip to step 9.
- On the Welcome to CPSOnline page, enter your email address and
serial number in the spaces provided. You can find your serial number
on your LCD screen when you turn on your pad; if your pad does not
have an LCD screen, your serial number is on the back of the pad or
under the battery cover. Since such numbers may rub off over time, it
is a good idea to record your serial number in a safe place for future
use.
- Click
Submit.CPSOnline will check to see if you already have a CPSOnline account. If your email address and serial number both match an existing account, CPSOnline will email you your login information; enter that information and proceed with step 9.
If you see a message that states, "Sorry, but the serial number you entered is already in use by a different student", then the serial number you entered matches an existing account but the email address you provided does not. Try another email address or contact eInstruction Technical Support.
If CPSOnline finds no matches to existing accounts, it will display a
Create a New Accountlink; click that link to create your account. - On the first Create Your Account screen, enter your email address
and serial number in the fields provided. Additionally, you must
select a security question and answer, which may be needed later for
you to retrieve your account information. When you have finished,
click
Continue.
- On the next Create Your Account screen, choose a CPSOnline
username and password.
Note: Do not use your IU Network ID passphrase on CPSOnline.
Enter your first name and last name as they appear in official university records. Optionally, you may enter a contact phone number. When you have finished, click
Submit. - You will receive a confirmation of your CPSOnline account. To
enroll in a class now, click
Yes.
- On the Enroll in a Class screen, enter your class key (provided by
your course instructor) and confirm it in the provided fields. You
are not required to enter a Student ID.
If you have an enrollment (activation) code, enter it in the corresponding field. If you do not have one, leave the field blank. (This code is used to pay for your enrollment; if you do not enter one, you will need to pay for your enrollment with a credit card or electronic check.)
- Click
Student Refund Policyto read important information regarding payments and enrollment codes. When you have finished, check the box to confirm that you have read the policy.
- Click

- $13 for one semester, with a $39 lifetime cap per student
- $35 as a one-time payment
Note: These prices are for online purchases on the eInstruction site. Alternatively, you can purchase an activation code at your campus bookstore, but the price will include a slight markup.

finished enrolling in all of your classes, click
