Can I lose my work in Oncourse CL if my session times out?

Unless you are actively using it, the Oncourse CL server disconnects your session after three hours (four hours for the Original Test and Survey tool). If you're taking or creating an assessment, composing text, or otherwise working in the application when the disconnect occurs, you lose your work and can't retrieve it.

Note: Oncourse CL will warn you when your session is close to timing out. Click OK in the Timeout warning box to reset the timer.

To keep your session from timing out, you need to click a link or button that sends a command to the Oncourse CL server. The following actions will reset the timeout timer:

  • Selecting a tool from the menubar.
  • Selecting a tab for a course, ePortfolio, or project site.
  • Clicking OK when the Timeout warning pops up on the screen.

Composing text and clicking radio buttons or drop-down lists to select answers or options will not reset the timer.
