Additional eInstruction CPSrf information for faculty

This document contains some commonly asked questions about eInstruction Corporation's Classroom Performance System rf (CPSrf).

Can I use the CPS software with PowerPoint?

You can use a version of CPS called CPS for PowerPoint. It allows you to insert different types of question slides as you create your PowerPoint presentation. You also can use PowerPoint presentations with the regular Windows and Macintosh CPS software. In addition, you can use CPS on its own.

What literature is available on the pedagogy of student response systems?

A growing body of literature is available in the area of student response systems. To get started, see the "Articles of Interest" section on the Teaching & Learning Technologies Centers' Clickers page.

Can I use the CPS software to give exams?

CPS has a Student Managed Assessment (SMA) mode, in which students enter answers to questions at their own pace. However, because you have no hard copy of students' answers (unlike with Scantron), you should not use CPS for high-stakes assessments without a backup plan (e.g., also requiring students to hand in a hard copy of the exam with their answers marked).

Where can I get the latest version of the CPS software?

You can download the most recent version of the Classroom Performance System (CPS) software from the eInstruction web site at:

http://www.einstruction.com/

To see the download types, click Support & Downloads.
