With a BlackBerry, how do I create a distribution list?
Groups you create in your BlackBerry Contacts function as distribution lists to simplify the task of mailing a single message to multiple recipients.
Note: With the implementation of BES 5.0, group mailing lists created on the BlackBerry handheld cannot be used from the Outlook desktop. However, personal distribution lists created in Outlook Contacts can be used on the BlackBerry device.
To create a group mailing list on your BlackBerry:
- With your BlackBerry, open your Contacts, and click the
Menu key to open the menu. Select
New Group, and type a name in the field provided.
- Click the Menu key, and choose
Add Member. Choose a name from the list of members in your contacts.Note: Contacts' email addresses must be in your contacts before you can add them to a group.
- Select the user and click the trackball to add the member to the
group. You may be prompted to choose from multiple email addresses
if more than one is listed for the chosen contact.
- To add more users, click the Menu key, select
Add Member, and repeat the steps above.
- After you have added all contacts to the group, click the Menu key,
and select
Save Group.
To modify an existing group, choose the group from your contacts. Once the list has appeared, you can add or remove group members or change the name of the group; click the Menu key to view your options.
Note: Distribution groups created in Outlook cannot be edited on the handheld; they can only be edited in Outlook. Likewise, distribution groups created on the handheld can only be edited on the handheld.
