Why am I getting an error message when I try to register my CPSrf response pad?

If you try to register a Classroom Performance System rf (CPSrf) response pad you purchased second hand, you might receive the following error message:

"The serial number is already in use."

This can mean one of the following:

  • The class in which the response pad was originally registered has not yet ended. Once the class has ended, you'll be able to register the response pad.

  • The response pad was registered fewer than 15 days ago by someone not enrolled in a class. If the person who registered the response pad does not enroll in a class within 15 days, you'll then be able to register the response pad.

If you want to register a response pad before the class or 15-day period ends, the previous owner must unregister the response pad.

To unregister a response pad you previously registered, and free the pad to be registered by another student, follow these steps:

  1. Access CPSOnline at: http://www.cpsonlinehe.einstruction.com/hggnstudent.cfm
  2. Use the drop-down list to select your school, and then click Choose Site.

  3. Log into CPSOnline using your username and password.

  4. Click Manage my Pads.

  5. On the pad management page, locate the response pad and click Delete to remove it from your account.

Note: If you previously started registration but exited before you enrolled in a class, you should already have a CPSOnline account. If you try to register your response pad using a username and password other than the one you originally created, you will receive the error message saying the pad is already in use. To avoid seeing this message, log into CPSOnline using the username and password you originally created. If you cannot remember these credentials, from the sign-in page, click Forgot my username or password.
