In RFS, how can I share my data with non-IU users?
The Research File System (RFS) can be accessed only by users who have an account on the system. If you are an Indiana University faculty or staff member, you can sponsor an affiliate computing account for eligible users. Individuals who have research or business connections with IU may qualify for these accounts. For more information, see Information about sponsored computing accounts for IU affiliates.
Once the affiliate account has been issued, the user will need to create or request an RFS account. You can then add his or her IU username to the Access Control Lists (ACLs) on the directories that you wish to share with the external user. For more information about ACL permissions, see At IU, how do I share my RFS data with other users using an AFS client?
UITS is exploring other data-sharing solutions. In the future, UITS will expand RFS service to support functionalities such as inter-institutional file sharing.
