Change the product level in ArcGIS Desktop

Note:
Esri has announced that ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap and its associated suite of tools, including ArcGlobe, etc.) will no longer be available through the Education Site License beginning July 1, 2024. This means that all current ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap) users will need to transition to ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Online by June 30, 2024. For further details, see ArcMap Retirement in Education Programs.

To set or change the ArcGIS Desktop license authorization type:

  1. Log into the computer with an account that has administrator privileges.
  2. Close all open ArcGIS Desktop applications (ArcMap or ArcCatalog).
  3. From the Start menu, select Programs or All Programs. Then, right-click ArcGIS and choose Run as Administrator.
  4. In the left table of contents of the ArcGIS Administrator utility, select the Desktop folder.
  5. In the right side of the ArcGIS Administrator utility, select the desired product level, and then choose OK.
    Note:
Select Advanced (ArcInfo) Concurrent if you will be authorizing the software through the central license server, or select Advanced (ArcInfo) Single Use if you are authorizing the software with either a student license or have requested a single-use license file from UITS for off-network use. For more about connecting to the central license server, see Configure ArcGIS for Desktop to use the UITS-managed Esri License Service.
