How do I install the ISDP Multi-file Download Tool?

The ISDP Multi-file Download Tool is a stand-alone application that allows you to download aerial photos, topographic maps, and other spatial data from the Indiana Spatial Data Portal (ISDP). This tool is especially useful for downloading multiple files in one setting. Note that this application will not replace the ISDP web site, which continues to offer downloads on a single-file download basis.

To install the ISDP tool:

  1. If you have the ISDP Mutli-file Download Tool version 1.0 or 1.1 on your computer, uninstall the software before proceeding to the next step. For instructions, see In Windows, how do I uninstall programs?

  2. Open a web browser to the ISDP Multi-file Download Tool page.

  3. At the top of the page, click Download Tool.

  4. Choose Save to Disk, and then select Save. Note where you save this file.

  5. Unzip the file using WinZip, Windows Extractor, or similar unpacking software. Once the file is extracted, you will see the folder ISDP Multi-file Download Tool 2.0 .

  6. Open this folder and double-click the setup.exe file.

  7. Depending on your Windows Operating System version, you may see a message, "This setup requires the .NET Framework version 2.0.50727". If you do not see this message, continue to step 8. If you do see this message, click Yes to connect to the Microsoft .NET Framework Developer Center website, then follow the instructions below.
    • Click the link for .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 (x86).
    • Click Download, and then click Save File.
    • Double-click the NetFx20SP1_x86.exe file. The files are extracted and the setup window opens.
    • Accept the license agreement, and click Install.
    • Once .NET 2.0 has been installed, reopen the ISDP Multi-file Download Tool 2.0 folder, and double-click the setup.exe file.

  8. The ISDP Download Tool 2 screen appears. Click Next to continue.

  9. Accept the default installation folder. You may choose to install this tool for your own use or for everyone that uses this computer. Click Next to continue.

  10. To confirm the installation, click Next. Installation begins.

  11. To exit setup, click Close.

  12. A shortcut icon to the application will appear on your desktop and in your Programs menu. Double-click this icon to open the ISDP Tool.

  13. When you open the application for the first time, the ISDP Tool Help Documentation will appear. See these help pages for instructions on creating a new account. If you already have an ISDP Tool account, you do not need to create another one. Simply close the Help window and log into the application.

  14. Once your account is created, you will automatically be logged into the application to begin file downloads.
