ARCHIVED: If I lose my ability to connect to IU's VPN on January 24, 2007, what should I do?

For security and scalability purposes, Indiana University has begun upgrading the infrastructure for wireless and remote connections to the IU network. As of January 24, 2007, as part of the upgrade, VPN service via the PPTP protocol will be available only at pptp.indiana.edu and pptp.iupui.edu. The servers at vpn.indiana.edu and vpn.iupui.edu will no longer use the PPTP protocol after that date; they will use only IPsec.

These changes may not affect you; if your current settings continue to work, do not change them. But if you cannot connect with your current settings, do the following:
