What hostname should I use to access Big Red?
Several hostnames are associated with Big Red, each with a specific purpose.
Non-TeraGrid users at IU
If you're at Indiana University, use SSH2 and your Network ID password to access Big Red using the following hostname:
bigred.teragrid.iu.eduUse this hostname to log in, transfer files, and submit jobs.
TeraGrid users (including those at IU)
If you have a TeraGrid allocation, use one of the following hostnames for interactive use:
tg-login.iu.teragrid.org login.bigred.iu.teragrid.orgThis hostname does not accept any authentication other than SSH keys and grid credentials. IU Network ID passwords will not work on this host.
If you are at IU and have a TeraGrid allocation, you can also use
SFTP to connect to bigred.teragrid.iu.edu to
copy your SSH key to Big Red before using
login.bigred.iu.teragrid.org to run grid-enabled
software. For help with SSH keys, see In SSH and SSH2 for Unix, how do I set up public key authentication?
If you have a TeraGrid allocation, you may use Single
Sign-On (myproxy-logon) from the command line of
any TeraGrid resource. After you start a session with this method, you
will be able to access all the allocated resources without
authenticating repeatedly.
The following hostnames are also available:
gridftp.bigred.iu.teragrid.org
|
For GridFTP file transfers |
gatekeeper.bigred.iu.teragrid.org
|
Globus gatekeeper host; for submitting Globus jobs |
