At IU, what should I do if I cannot connect to SDA?
If you cannot connect to the Scholarly Data Archive (SDA) at Indiana University, try the following:
- Check your network connection. Can you view other web sites? If
not, there may be a network problem in your office, in your
department, or at IU. Check your computer's network cable to ensure it
didn't get unplugged accidentally; also, see if a colleague in another
room can connect. If so, the problem is in your office. Either there
is a physical network problem or the network is not configured
properly on your computer. You'll need to get it fixed first.
- If your computer and your network connection are fine, check with
your local systems administrator, and then check the UITS
IT Notices page to see if there
is a larger network outage, a denial of service attack in progress, or
a period of scheduled or unscheduled maintenance.
- If the network is working, and there is no maintenance currently
underway, try connecting to the SDA web interface.
You can also log into a central IU Unix system, such as Big Red, and try using HSI. If HSI does not work from those systems, or you cannot connect to the SDA web interface, it's most likely an SDA backend problem. Email Research Storage.
