At IU, how do I configure my H.323 videoconferencing endpoint with a qualified GDS E.164 number?

Following is an explanation of the H.323 dialing plan at Indiana University. Follow the directions for your campus to configure the H.323 extension for your videoconferencing equipment.

IU Bloomington and IUPUI

Your H.323 extension should be 001 plus the 10-digit phone number of the telephone closest to the Polycom unit in your office or conference room. For example, if you have a Polycom ViaVideo unit in your office and your office telephone number is 812-855-0327, you would configure the ViaVideo's H.323 extension as:

All other IU campuses

Your H.323 extension should be 0011439 plus the 7-digit phone number of the telephone closest to the Polycom unit in your office or conference room. For example, if you have a Polycom system in a conference room and the conference room's telephone number is 765-455-9239, you would configure the Polycom unit's H.323 extension as:

Non-IU locations

Your H.323 extension should be 0011439 plus the full 10-digit phone number of the telephone closest to the Polycom unit in your office or conference room. For example, if you are at the University of Southern Indiana in a conference room with a Polycom system, and the conference room's telephone number is 812-933-8899, you would configure the Polycom unit H.323 extension as:

Special situations

One Polycom unit but no telephone in the same room

If you have a Polycom unit but no telephone in the same room, phone 812-856-2020 and request an H.323 extension number assignment.

Two or more Polycom units and only one telephone number

If you have only one telephone number and multiple Polycom units, configure the H.323 extension for the first endpoint as instructed above. For the second endpoint, use the same H.323 extension, but add a 2 (or 3, 4, 5, etc.) at the end of the extension. For example, if your office phone number is 812-855-0327, configure one endpoint's H.323 extension as:
