At IU, how do I transfer a call directly to a UMS mailbox?

To transfer a call directly to a Unified Messaging Service mailbox at Indiana University, follow the instructions below:

  1. With the caller on the line, press the button on your phone that transfers calls (see At IUB or IUPUI, how do I transfer a call or establish a three-way call on a single-line or IP phone?).

  2. At IU Bloomington, dial 812-856-9800 (from on campus, 6-9800). At IUPUI, dial 317-278-4288 (from on campus, 8-4288).

  3. If the phone you are using has UMS, press  ** . If the phone you are using does not have UMS, press  * .

  4. Enter the 10-digit mailbox number and then  # . You will hear the UMS user's name.

  5. Press  # .

  6. Press Transfer again. The caller will be transferred to the UMS mailbox and hear the UMS user's greeting.

  7. Press Rls or hang up.
