In iTunes for Windows, what can I do if I can't play songs I bought from the iTunes store?

Following one of Apple's routine updates to iTunes, older versions of iTunes will sometimes require you to upgrade in order to play even previously playable media. Additionally, if you upgraded your version of Windows but retained an older version of iTunes, that version may install with no problems, but still not be compatible.

Regardless of the cause, if you cannot play songs you purchased from the iTunes Music Store, Apple recommends that you upgrade to the latest version of iTunes. For more, see Apple's iTunes support page.
