Using iTunes, how do I subscribe to a podcast?

You can find many free podcasts by visiting the iTunes Store. To find and subscribe to a podcast from the iTunes Store, follow these steps:

  1. From within iTunes, in the menu on the left, select iTunes Store.

  2. In the "iTunes STORE" box on the left, select Podcasts. Browse or search for the podcast you want, and then click the podcast to select it.

  3. To subscribe to the entire podcast series, click SUBSCRIBE. To subscribe to a single episode in the series, to the right of the episode name, click GET EPISODE.

You can also find free podcasts on the web. To subscribe to a podcast you find outside iTunes (e.g., on a web site or in Oncourse CL), follow these steps:

  1. Copy the URL for the RSS feed associated with the podcast. (In the Oncourse CL Podcasting tool, the URL for the RSS feed is near the top of the page.)

  2. In iTunes, from the Advanced menu, click Subscribe to Podcast... .

  3. In the box that appears, paste the URL for the RSS feed, and then click OK.

iTunes will download the latest podcast in the series and the titles of previous podcasts (without the content). It will automatically download future podcasts as well. To get the podcast content for a previous episode, click GET next to the episode name.

If you subscribe to many podcasts but don't listen to them, iTunes may continue to download the podcast title but stop downloading the podcast content. If you want the content for one of these episodes, click GET. If you begin listening to the podcast regularly, regular download will resume.
