At IU, how do I configure Windows Mobile 6 or 6.1 for Exchange ActiveSync?
At Indiana University, to set up Exchange ActiveSync on your device running Windows Mobile 6 or 6.1:
Windows Mobile 6 or 6.1 Standard
- Open the ActiveSync application on the device.
- Press
Menu, and then selectAdd Server Resource.
- In the "Server Address" field, enter
www.exchange.iu.edu.
- Check
This server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection, and then pressNext.
- Enter your IU Network ID and domain
(ADS), and then press
Next.
- Choose the items you wish to sync wirelessly.
- Press
Finish.The device will automatically try to synchronize with your Exchange account, and you will see:
Users will be alerted that the Exchange server www.exchange.iu.edu must enforce security policies on your device to continue synchronizing. Do you wish to continue?
Press
OK.
Windows Mobile 6 or 6.1 Professional
- Open the ActiveSync application from the
Programsmenu.
- If this is the first time you have set up a connection on the
device, a screen may appear explaining that this device has the
ability to sync directly with your company's Exchange server. On this
screen, click
set up your device to sync with it.If you have already set up an account on your device, from the
Menubutton at the bottom of the screen, chooseConfigure ServerorAdd Server Source. - In the "Server Address" field, enter
www.exchange.iu.eduand pressNext. Leave the box checked that indicates that the server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection.
- Enter your IU Network ID and domain
(ADS). Leave
Save Passwordchecked, and then pressNext.
- Select the information you wish to sync wirelessly with the
Exchange server, and then press
Finish. You will see:Users will be alerted that the Exchange server www.exchange.iu.edu must enforce security policies on your device to continue synchronizing. Do you wish to continue?
- Press
OK.
