What is the Earth System Grid (ESG)?

The Earth System Grid (ESG), an Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) Science Gateway, integrates supercomputers with large-scale data and analysis servers at national laboratories and research centers to create a powerful environment for next generation climate research. The ESG provides access to data, models, and tools for the global climate change research community. In particular, the ESG provides access to a 150 TB collection of climate and ocean model data, and serves as a central point for distribution of the Community Climate System Model, as well as other related datasets and analysis and visualization tools. For more, visit the ESG portal.

For more about Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) Science Gateways, see the Science Gateways Overview and the list of current Science Gateways in the XSEDE User Portal. For information about registering and managing an XSEDE Science Gateway, see Gateways for principal investigators (PIs). For information about planning and designing an XSEDE Science Gateway, see The Role of the Developer.
