In ePortfolio, how do I add a matrix to the menubar of my worksite?

In ePortfolio, it is possible to create a direct link to any matrix from the menubar of any worksite. This might be useful when, for example, a matrix supporting an academic program resides in a portfolio site, and the faculty in that program want to link to the matrix from their course sites. As long as they are members of both the course site and the portfolio site, students can use the menubar link to view and work with the matrix without leaving the course site.

Note: To complete the procedures in this document, you must be assigned a role having the necessary permissions. To determine your role, follow the directions in Participant roles. To view a list of permissions associated with a given role, see Permissions, roles, and tools. For a basic understanding of roles and permissions, see Permissions and roles: Overview.

To create the link:

  1. Go to the worksite containing the matrix.

  2. Click Matrices.

  3. Locate the desired matrix, right-click its name, and choose Copy link location to copy the URL for the matrix to the Clipboard.

  4. Go to the worksite in which you would like to add a link to the matrix.

  5. Click Site Setup.

  6. Click Edit Tools.

  7. Check Web Content to add a new Web Content tool.

  8. Click Continue.

  9. In the Web Content screen, enter a short title in the "Title" field. Delete the "http://" from the source field and paste the matrix URL into the field.

  10. Click Continue.

  11. Click Finish.

  12. The matrix link should now appear in the menubar. Test the link by clicking it.
