What is Octave, and where is it installed on XSEDE?

GNU Octave is a high-level language, primarily intended for numerical computations. It provides a convenient command line interface for solving linear and nonlinear problems numerically, and for performing other numerical experiments using a language that is mostly compatible with Matlab. The source code for Octave is freely redistributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL). For more, see the Octave web site.

To find which XSEDE resources have this software (and which version) installed, use the Comprehensive Software Search on the XSEDE Software page.

  1. Make sure the first drop-down list is set to Name.

  2. Enter the application name in the text box.

  3. Click Search.

If your search returns 0 results, it may mean this software is not available on XSEDE. If you wish to use such an application, contact  help@xsede.org . If a product (e.g., Python) is installed on a resource, and you want to use a specific module associated with that product (e.g., Biopython), you may contact  help@xsede.org  to request its installation.
