ARCHIVED: In Windows 7 or Vista, how do I switch views for the Start menu or Control Panel?

Windows 7 Control Panel

  1. From the Start menu, select Control Panel.
  2. Next to "View by:" on the upper right, select your choice from the drop-down menu.

Windows 7 Start menu

  1. Right-click the Start button, and select Properties.
  2. For details about options, click How do I change the way the Start menu looks? When you're ready, click Customize to make your selections.

Vista Start menu

  1. Right-click the Start button, and select Properties.
  2. Click either the Classic Start menu or Start menu radio button, and then click OK.

Vista Control Panel

  1. Navigate to the Control Panel:

    • From the Vista default Start menu, select Control Panel.
    • From the Classic Start menu, select Settings, and then Control Panel.

  2. On the left, click either Classic View or Control Panel Home.
