ARCHIVED: How do I install Communicator Mobile?

At Indiana University, you can use Communicator Mobile to access the UniCom service on your mobile device running Windows Mobile 6 or Java. For more, see Microsoft Office Communicator Mobile 2007 R2 version Overview at Microsoft Office Online.

Note: UITS has migrated to OCS R2, the newest release of the UniCom service. If you use Communicator Mobile, you need to install the new version; follow the directions below.

Before proceeding, uninstall any previous versions of Communicator Mobile from your device.

To install Communicator Mobile:

  1. To detect the appropriate version for your device, using your mobile device's web browser, go to: http://www.getcomo.com
  2. Confirm the phone type and application language. Change these only if needed.

  3. Choose Download.

  4. When prompted, check Open file after download. Then choose Yes. This will install the appropriate .CAB file onto the device.

  5. Once the installation is complete, start Communicator Mobile on your device.

  6. When presented with the license agreement, choose Accept.

  7. Choose Options, and click the Account tab.

    • For "Sign-in address:", enter your email address.
    • For "User name:", enter ads\username , replacing username with your Network ID username.
    • For "Password:", enter your Network ID passphrase.
    • The following checkboxes are optional:

      • Remember password
      • Automatically sign me in
      • Do not use roaming networks
      • Sign in as:

  8. If you are using UniCom Enterprise Voice, click the Calls tab and, under "Incoming Calls to Work", adjust your call forwarding settings as desired.

  9. Click ok and then Sign In.
