At IUB, when are the STCs open?

At Indiana University Bloomington, Student Technology Centers (STCs) and Residential Technology Centers (RTCs) follow the official calendar as published by the Office of the Registrar.

The Information Commons, located on the first floor of the Herman B Wells Library, is open and staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 360 days a year. The Information Commons closes on the following university holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day.

When classes are in session, STCs in academic buildings are generally open during normal building hours: Monday-Friday 7am-10pm. Weekend access to the STCs depends on building practices.

During holidays and semester breaks, STC and RTC availability is often limited to staffed locations to ensure the safety and security of lab customers. Unstaffed STCs in academic buildings will close at the end of classes before holidays and semester breaks. Labs will reopen on the afternoon before (or morning of) the day classes resume; see Where can I find out when the IUB and IUPUI STCs are staffed?

RTC hours are determined by Technology Center Consulting (TCC). For more information about RTC hours, see At IU, what are the RTCs?

If you have questions about lab hours, send mail to  stcchg@indiana.edu .
